What are fiber optics
In a hobby application, Fiber Optics are used to give the illusion of light.
If you've seen a science fiction movie, like Star Wars or Star Trek, you've seen fiber optics!
When you apply a light source at one end of the fiber optic strand, the other end illuminates. Because of the design of the strands, very little light is "lost" between the source and the destination.
And because the filament is flexible, you are able to add illumination to small or hard to reach areas.
What would I use Fiber Optics for ?
In modeling, Fiber Optics are used to give the illusion of light.
If you have ever seen a space ship in a science fiction movie, most likely fiber optics were incorporated into the model as part of the illumination.
